Influence of pulse modulation frequency on helium RF atmospheric pressure plasma jet characteristics

This work investigates the influence of pulse modulation frequency ranging from 50 Hz–10 kHz on helium RF atmospheric pressure plasma jet's fundamental characteristics. The impact jet discharge behaviour, geometrical variation, reactive species emission, and parameters (gas temperature Tg, electron excitation Texc, density (ne)) are studied using various diagnostics such as optical imaging, emission spectra, thermal diagnostic. From experiments, it is observed that operating at low frequencies (around Hz) provides enhanced dimensions, higher densities greater (viz., He I, O, OH, N2+, etc.) compared to frequencies. Besides power consumption, three times less gas modulated than continuous wave mode makes more advantageous for applications. Moreover, duty cycle (D) applied (P) characteristics also discussed. It found 10–40% operation most favourable attributes. More importantly, concern shorter length in jets overcome by 10–20% with increased power. thoroughly characterizes a wide range parameters, which could help select appropriate conditions industrial biomedical
